While there are many reasons to learn about cycle wellness, one that stands out to me for my practice is the fact that East Asian medicine has been cultivating views on the menstrual cycle for at least a 1,000 years, providing a substantial framework and vocabulary to feel more in tune with our bodies.
We'll be looking at the interplay of Yin & Yang during the cycle. Together with tea artist Rui Rui Wang, we'll be presenting some of my favourite herbs and gentle herbal tea combinations that can support self-regulation and general wellbeing.
This workshop welcomes all bodies. I want to emphasise that it's not exclusively for people with menstrual discomfort, but for anyone who wants to learn about the cycle to even support partners, spouses, or just friends.
In many Chinese households, it is custom that both parents take care of their daughters when they menstruate, by preparing nutritious foods, food baths, and providing education on self-care. This tradition needs to become alive again in my humble opinion, because many women are simply exhausted from the constant pressure to self-optimise!
